How to do Ashwini Mudra and know its benefits

Ashwini Mudra –

Ashwini (Ashwini) means ‘horse’. This mudra is named Ashwini mudra because in this the action of contraction of the anus is similar to the action done by the horse through the anus immediately after defecation.

Method of doing Ashwini Mudra –

There are two methods of doing this Ashwini Mudra. Method 1 with rapid contraction and method 2 with contraction. So let us know these methods in detail.

Method of doing Ashwini Mudra 1 Sharp contraction –

  • Sit in any comfortable seat of most meditation.
  • Now close the eyes and relax the whole body.
  • Keep breathing naturally for a few minutes.
  • Now bring your awareness to the anus.
  • Squeeze your anal opening muscles for a few moments without straining.
  • Then relax the anus for a few moments.
  • This contraction should be limited to the anal area only.
  • Keep repeating this exercise for as long as possible.
  • The contraction and dilation of the anus should be smooth and rhythmic.
  • Now do this contraction at a more rapid pace.

Method of doing Ashwini Mudra 2 Contractions with Antarkumbhaka –

  • Sit in any comfortable seat of most meditation.
  • Now close the eyes and relax the whole body.
  • Keep breathing naturally for a few minutes.
  • Now bring your awareness to the anus.
  • Squeeze your anal opening muscles for a few moments without straining.
  • While contracting the muscles of the anus, take slow and deep breaths at the same time.
  • Now practice Antarkumbhaka while maintaining the contraction.
  • Make the contraction as firm as possible without any tension.
  • Now exhale while relaxing the contraction of the anus.
  • In this way, one cycle of Ashwini Mudra was completed.
  • Practice as many cycles as you can comfortably.

Duration of doing Ashwini Mudra –

The practice of this mudra has no time limit. Initially, there should not be much emphasis on the muscles of the anus. As the muscles of the anus become stronger and control is gained, in the same way, increases the duration of Ashwini Mudra.

Awareness –

Physically your reflexes should be on the anus while doing this mudra. Must be spiritually on the Muladhara Chakra.

Limitations –

Persons who have a fistula (anal-canal ulcer) should not practice this mudra.

  • This mudra strengthens the muscles of the anus.
  • This Mudra removes rectal defects like constipation, hemorrhoids, and uterine or rectal prolapse.
